Day 13–Travel Day, Lakeside RV Park, Beaumont, Texas

We finally packed up and headed out of Florida. It was raining when we left and continued to do so all day. By the time we got to Beaumont and settled in it was pouring and very cold – about 44 degrees.

The CG was beautiful and truly a resort with concrete pads and top notch services. Too bad it was so miserable we couldn’t enjoy sitting by the lake. The good news, it was  a Passport America CG so we were able to stay for only $19.00 for the night. Better then sleeping in a Wal Mart parking lot or rest area any day of the week.

The rain did not let up the entire night and we had a thunder and lightening storm that lasted for over two hours. This, despite the fact, that the temp was now 38 – what!!! Thunder and lightening in 38 degree weather!!!!Jewel was so frightened  and shaking so hard we thought she would have a heart attack. I had to give her the tranquilizer that her vet had ordered.  Finally she settled down – so much so that we thought she had died. Neither Ron or I could see or feel her breathing. YIKES! Finally she moved and we were relieved.

The areas of grass were really flooded from the rain.

We have friends in  Nederland Texas  that we met on  a Transatlantic  cruise in 2006 on the Voyager of the Seas,  that we will be stopping to see on our way through. Ron has kept in close contact all these years so we will be happy to see them again.
