Day 11, Gulf Coast Island National Seashore, Santa Rosa Island, Florida (#2)

We were up at 5 am  and were treated to a lovely sunrise. Later there was  sunshine and bright blue skies so we opted to stay one more day. Ron paid up for the two days and we were then allowed to have  the entrance code. Now we can get back in after 5:30 pm. LOL

Sitting outside in the sun felt really good. Our neighbors stopped by to tell us they adopted a dog from a  no-kill shelter yesterday and they were excited to go pick him up today.

The little dog is so cute and friendly. His name is Guapo – Spanish for handsome. Jewel was so excited to see him and wanted to play with him right away. She kept whimpering and looking under the MH because she wanted to go next door and be with him. I guess he really is  doggy “handsome” because Jewel could not get enough of him. LOL

Later we went to sit on the beach with our jeans and long sleeve shirts. But the sun and ocean were just what we needed.

After catching some rays on the beach we went  into town for dinner. We ate at a great restaurant  overlooking the ocean. The service and food were excellent so we enjoyed it very much.

Ron had shrimp and I had chicken marsala. The servings were huge so we have  enough of both meals to eat again tomorrow evening.

Ron wanted to take a walk on the pier so we were on the hunt for beach access. Unfortunately there were tons of stairs and I still can’t go up and down stairs normally – just one step at a time.  It gets very  trying  and by the time I finished the stairs I was pooped.

We found a very nice shell so decided to take it home with us but we couldn’t get it off the deck!!!!!!!!                   image

Back at the CG I opted out of taking Jewel for a walk. The knee was killing me – so much for thinking I was ready for hiking. BLAH!!!!

Ron took her  and got some  great nighttime pictures.

We will be leaving here in the morning. If the weather would hold we would spend a couple more days but with rain  moving in we will move out.
